New Faculty Orientation
Each year we welcome new faculty to RIT by holding New Faculty Orientation prior to the start of fall quarter. This orientation is devoted to providing new faculty with the critical information about the university and the resources available for faculty to support the first day of teaching and beyond.
Hosted by Faculty Career Development Services in August of each year, New Faculty Orientation (NFO) focuses on three key success factors for new faculty: introduction to critical information; socialization with their cohort and RIT culture; and network-building within and across colleges and disciplines. NFO is devoted to providing new faculty with the critical information about the university and resources available for faculty to support the teaching and scholarship processes. As a group, all new faculty gather for sessions related to preparing for the first day of class, working with deaf and hard of hearing students, classroom management and a myriad other topics. In addition, most of the colleges host an event to provide new faculty the opportunity to meet fellow new colleagues and learn more about their specific college. A web-based resource portal provides timely information, resources, and connections on where to find support at RIT. Click here to view the online FCDS New Faculty Orientation Handbook.
The RIT Academic Senate website also holds many resources for new faculty. Dates and schedules will be posted there when available: http://www.rit.edu/academicaffairs/newfaculty/
