RIT plans to create a new home for the Golisano Institute for Sustainability. The project has received the largest Federal N.I.S.T grant in the current funding round, $13.1 million. The total GIS project then will be $38 million. The building is planned to achieve the highest levels of sustainable design and operation, LEED Platinum. Design-Build team selection is underway with design work planned to begin in summer of 2009. The building's site will be east of Slaughter Hall/CIMS with the CIMS traffic circle to be converted to a pedestrian quad. Schematic design is underway and completion is planned by Fall Quarter 2012.
