Students

All vehicle registration decals must be displayed properly and affixed to the outside of the driver’s side rear window. Vehicle registration is free of charge. Hangtags (temporary and handicapped) must be visible and properly displayed from the rear view mirror. Please refer to the Campus Map for parking lot locations.

Commuter Students

Commuter students are issued a general vehicle registration decal and may park in the following locations:

  • General spaces in Lots C, D, E, F, G, H, J, K, L*, N, S, T at any time.
  • To park in a Reserved space, you must purchase and display a Reserved parking permit.
  • When visiting on-campus apartment complexes, use Visitor spaces only. If Visitor spaces are full, refer to the specific complex under Apartment Residents for overflow locations.
  • From 5pm - 1am, Reserved spaces except Admin and Lot 7B, are open for general use.
  • Regulations are in effect 7 days a week, year round including break weeks, holidays and weekends.
  • Never park in Handicapped spaces without a validHandicapped permit. (Violators will be cited for parking in a Handicapped space. Handicapped violations do not qualify for a first ticket warning.)
  • No parking is allowed at any time in these areas: Roadways, fire lanes, unpaved areas/grass, Admin Lot/spaces, Lot 7B, loading dock, or other unauthorized areas.
  • The person who registers the vehicle (registrant) is fully responsible for all fines issued to vehicle and must properly inform other users of RIT’s parking regulations.
  • Any vehicle parked in an unauthorized location will be ticked or towed at owners/registrant’s expense.
  • If you wish to appeal a parking citation issued to your vehicle, go to Citations & Appeals for further instructions.

*All Residence Halls circles, D, L and M Lots are closed 1am – 5am, Monday-Sunday.

First Year - Resident Students

All First Year resident students are issued Lot B decals and can register only one vehicle.

  • From 1am - 5pm vehicles are required to remain in B-Lot, including during business hours break week, weekends and holidays.
  • From 5pm - 1am, Reserved spaces except Admin and Lot 7B.
  • Resident students are not eligible to purchase a Reserved parking permit.
  • When visiting at an RIT apartment complex use Visitor spaces only. If Visitor spaces are full, refer to the specific complex under Apartment Residents for overflow locations.

  • Never park in Handicapped spaces without a valid Handicapped permit.

Upperclass Residence Halls Students

Upperclass resident students can register only one vehicle, are issued res hall decals and may park in the following areas:

  • General spaces in Lot C, K, and N any time.
  • Resident students are not permitted to park in academic lots between 5am and 5pm. Academic lots include: D, E, F, G, H, J, L, M, R, S, T, U plus fully reserved lots Grace Watson Circle, Kate Gleason Circle, Sol Heumann Circle and CIMS West.
  • Resident students are not eligible to purchase a Reserved parking permit.
  • When visiting at an RIT apartment complex use Visitor spaces only. If Visitor spaces are full, refer to the specific complex under Apartment Residents for overflow locations.
  • From 5pm - 1am, Reserved spaces except Admin and Lot 7B, are open for general use.
  • All residence halls circles, Lot D, L, M are closed between 1am - 5am.

Apartment Residents

Apartment resident students can register only one vehicle and are issued apartment decals. Apartment residents include all that reside in: Colony Manor, Perkins Apartments, University Commons, Riverknoll/Greek Housing, Global Village, Province and Park Point. Apartment residents may park as follows:

  • Global Village and Riverknoll residents may park in the Riverknoll parking lots or in the Global Village lot located north of Kimball Drive (near the Red Barn).
  • Colony Manor, Perkins, University Commons and Riverknoll/Greek Housing residents may park in resident and Visitor spaces in your OWN complexes. Park Point and Province residents should follow the parking terms of Park Point and Province.
  • Resident students are not permitted to park in academic lots between 5am and 5pm. Academic lots include: D, E, F, G, H, J, L, M, R, S, T, U plus fully reserved lots Grace Watson Circle, Kate Gleason Circle, Sole Heumann Circle, CIMS West, and C and K lots (RH residents are the exception to C and K lots).
  • From 5pm - 1am, Reserved spaces except Admin and Lot 7B, are open for general use.
  • All residence halls circles, Lot L and M are closed from1am - 5am.
  • Resident students are not eligible to purchase a Reserved parking permit.
  • Be courteous to your fellow residents. Properly instruct your guests to park in Visitor spaces only.
  • Parking is limited in several complexes. Visitors are required to park only in designated Visitor spaces. If Visitor spaces are full, overflow parking is as follows:
    • Perkins Green Apartments – K-Lot
    • Colony Manor – A-Lot
    • Riverknoll/Greek Housing – Global Village lot located north of Kimball Drive. Note: On-campus resident vehicles parked in S-Lot after 5am will be ticketed.
