Lifeguards on duty shall enforce all aquatics center rules and have the authority to suspend pool privileges if rules are violated
General Aquatics Center Policies
- Children under the age of four(4) are prohibited from using the pools
- Children ages 4-15 must be closely supervised by an adult at all times
- All swimmers must wear proper swimwear to enter pool; no street clothes allowed in pools
- No changing on deck; please use locker rooms
- Please shower before entering the water; shower facilities provided on deck
- Food, drink, chewing gum, and glass containers are prohibited in the pool area
- No running, jumping, or pushing while on deck
- No scuba/snorkeling equipment allowed on deck or in the water
- Prolonged underwater breath-holding is prohibited
- No flotation devices permitted (tubes, mattresses, toys, etc…) unless provided by RIT
- No open cuts/sores allowed in the water
- Pollution of pool is prohibited (urination, fecal matter, blowing nose, etc...)
- No spectators allowed on deck
- Areas of the Aquatics Center will be opened/closed at the discretion of the Head Lifeguard on duty
- Obey all lifeguard requests
- Obey all posted signage
- Participation at own risk
Competition Pool Policies
- Due to the variable depths of the competition pool, weaker swimmers should be monitored at all times
- Absolutely NO swimming under the bulkhead
- Starting block use is prohibited during recreation swim times
- No diving in shallow (east) end
- Circle swimming only in lap area
- When more than two people utilize a lane, swimmers must swim laps in counter-clockwise circles
- Choose a lane with swimmers that look approximate to your pace and join them
Diving Area Policies
- One diver on the board at a time
- Diving area must be clear of all swimmers before diving
- Double bouncing on diving board is prohibited
- Divers must go straight off diving board
- After completing a dive, exit the pool using the nearest ladder
- Swimming under the diving boards while in use is prohibited
- Lifeguards can prohibit someone from attempting a dangerous dive
- Diving boards can be closed/opened at the discreation of the lifeguard
- Due to the variable depths of the diving well, weaker swimmers should be monitored at all times
Recreation Pool Policies
- NO DIVING at any time
- Enter pool by use of the stairs or ladder
- Current Channel and Vortex will be controlled by lifeguard
- No more than five(5) people in the Vortex at a time
- When using the Vortex, your head must remain above water at all times
- No running, dunking, horseplay, or hanging off pool equipment
- Water basketball/volleyball will be made available at the discretion of the lifeguard
- No sitting, standing, climbing, etc...on the island
- Recreation Pool can be closed/opened at the discretion of the lifeguard
Hot Tub Policies
- Chlidren under the age of 16 are not permitted
- Elderly persons and those diagnosed with a heart condition, diabetes, or high/low blood pressure, are prohibited from using the hot tub
- Do not use while under the influence of alcohol, anticoagulants, antihistamines, vasoconstrictors, stimulants, hypnotics, narcotics or tranquilizers
- Women who are pregnant are recommended not to use the hot tub
- Limit time in hot tub to 15-minutes maximum. Long exposure may result in nausea, dizziness or fainting
- Keep your head above water at all times
- Do not use alone
- Help can be obtained by contacting a lifeguard or using the telephone
- No diving
