Between the months of June and July 2012, RIT Global held its first Pre-University Sustainable Design and Engineering Summer Program. The program was led by Profesor Calli Babbit (RIT Golisano Institute of Sustainability ) and Professor Alex Lobos (RIT College of Imaging Arts and Science) with the participation of five elite high school students from around de world (Canada, Denmark, Spain and USA).
The program included workshops, lectures, projects and field trips that brought together the areas of engineering and design. The students got to work on some very interesting projects such as re-designing a toaster for users with disabilities and thinking of small changes that would generate a big impact on producing a greener and better laptop.
Although their days were jam packed with academic activities, their evening and weekends were filled with fun events such as ice skating, wall climbing, and visiting some of the most beautiful parks in upstate New York.
All of us at the Global Summer Programs miss our Fabulous Five! But are so excited to start planning for Summer 2013!
