Cathy Ahern is the Director of Engineering in Facilities Management Services, and she has been at RIT for five years.
I’ve known Cathy since I started working at RIT. Over a year ago or so I had a meeting with Cathy and when I met with her I noticed that she had lost some weight. I was also impressed that she obviously was dedicated as she had a big refreshing-looking pitcher of water sitting on her desk and I thought to myself, wow she is really dedicated to her weight-loss plan. (So went right out and bought myself a pitcher to keep in the refrigerator).

Lea Michel is an assistant professor in the COS, Department of Chemistry, and she has been at RIT since the summer of 2009.
While the first 3 people featured in this Better Me series were people I knew, Lea’s involvement in the series came about when I reached out to Midge Berfield, RIT’s Manager of Employee Health and Wellness. I wrote to Midge to tell her about the series I was planning and she suggested we interview Lea.

Everyone knows Omar Phillips- He is the one that sends you emails when there are announcements from ITS. Omar is the ITS HelpDesk Manager and also a Staff Council member. He has been with RIT since 2002.

I met Terri O’Connor when I moved up to the 4th floor in Eastman. Over the course of the last year Terri told me about how she had lost a lot of weight. She inspires me everyday, so when I was planning this Better Me series Terri obviously came to mind.

My # 1 New Year’s Resolution is, as usual, to lose weight. I am hoping that since I am posting it on this blog that I will have to make it come true this year - right? Everyone has New Year’s resolutions and good intentions for keeping them but I think we all need a little inspiration.
I know a couple of colleagues that were able to lose weight so I thought it would be wonderful if they could share their inspirational stories with all of us. So in the next few days be prepared to be inspired as we share with you on this blog their truly inspirational stories.
