Rochester Institute of Technology

The Mission of the RIT Staff Council (RSC) is to provide the University with the perspective of staff on University issues; to serve as an advisory body to the President or his/her representative on issues and decisions which impact the RIT community; to initiate policy proposals and revisions and raise issues for University deliberation; and to review policy proposals, revisions, and issues raised by others for University deliberation.

Welcome to the RSC Web Site

Welcome! Staff Council is an advisory body to the President, or his/her representative, on issues and decisions which impact Rochester Institute of Technology. Our Staff Council Members communicate to staff about university news, events and initiatives and act as a conduit providing staff feedback and insights on university issues. Additionally, Staff Council initiates policy proposals and revisions, and raises issues for University consideration.

This site provides a wealth of information for the RIT community. It is our hope that you will join us at meetings, nominate a coworker for one of our awards, or offer suggestions for transforming RIT into the “Innovation University”. Most of all we want you to join your colleagues and get involved! All Staff Council meetings are open to all RIT community members.

Also, please help us share the news about staff success! We're always excited to help spread the word about RIT staff who receive awards - either internal or external - for their work at RIT.  If you or an RIT staff member you know has recently received recognition for his or her work, please email the Staff Council office at stafcoun@rit.edu to let us know so that we can share the news with the RIT community via the Staff Council blog.

I recently bought a new home computer. I was offered various deals for software like Microsoft Office. I smiled and politely said no thank you. The next day I paid a visit to the Digital Den in the SAU and bought Microsoft Office for under $20.

What great benefits we have here at RIT. Did you know that you can shop at BJ’s in Henrietta and receive membership pricing? Just present your RIT ID card to the person at the membership desk. You will be given a membership card to use during that shopping trip.

University News Service once did an article about getting out on campus, as there are a lot of stories to experience. Last year I did just that and went to the employee craft fair in the SAU. It was such a great experience, I thought I’d write about it for the Staff Council blog, especially since this year’s Craft Fair is this week on Wednesday, Dec 8th from 10-4pm in the SAU.

Welcome!  If you are reading this article you are now reading it on the new and improved RIT Staff Council website; a portal full of valuable information for RIT Staff and community members.

The biggest change for this new website is the use of a new platform called Drupal.  Drupal is a content management system, or a website development tool, that allows the end user or client to modify, add, or edit their website without having to know web programming. The Drupal platform was adopted by RIT in 2009.
