The Mission of the RIT Staff Council (RSC) is to provide the University with the perspective of staff on University issues; to serve as an advisory body to the President or his/her representative on issues and decisions which impact the RIT community; to initiate policy proposals and revisions and raise issues for University deliberation; and to review policy proposals, revisions, and issues raised by others for University deliberation.

Welcome! Staff Council is an advisory body to the President, or his/her representative, on issues and decisions which impact Rochester Institute of Technology. Our Staff Council Members communicate to staff about university news, events and initiatives and act as a conduit providing staff feedback and insights on university issues. Additionally, Staff Council initiates policy proposals and revisions, and raises issues for University consideration.

 
This site provides a wealth of information for the RIT community. It is our hope that you will join us at meetings, nominate a coworker for one of our awards, or offer suggestions for transforming RIT into the “Innovation University”. Most of all we want you to join your colleagues and get involved! All Staff Council meetings are open to all RIT community members.
 

Also, please help us share the news about staff success! We're always excited to help spread the word about RIT staff who receive awards - either internal or external - for their work at RIT.  If you or an RIT staff member you know has recently received recognition for his or her work, please email the Staff Council office at stafcoun@rit.edu to let us know so that we can share the news with the RIT community via the Staff Council blog.

  • So why should I join Staff Council?

    That’s the question I asked Steve Schwab 6 years ago. Steve was the corporate relations director at that point, he was my peer in development and a Staff Council member. He said that I would have the chance to meet many people at RIT I would never come across in my day-to-day job and I would get a great view of what is going on at RIT. I trusted Steve so I went for it and he was right. I have met really great people from departments I did not know existed: First Year Enrichment, Building Services, Risk Management – who knew?
