Staff Council Member Development Opportunities

This year Staff Council members were polled to find out what they would like to see in the way of development for Staff Council members. In particular what we wanted to know was if Staff Council were to devote a portion of the meeting time to development - what would they want to learn more about to help them in their job.  The results ranged from topics of: Leadership, to Crucial Conversations, to Social Media, to to learning more about other areas on campus, to to hearing from the Students, to hearing from the VP’s.

As the chair of Staff Council over the past year, I have been so lucky to be able to attend the Student Government (SG) meetings. It is literally one of the high points of each week for me.  Last Friday- I was thrilled to be in attendance because the students had planned a very special tribute to one of our own.

I was logged on the MyRIT homepage recently when a headline caught my eye. It was a link to Reporter and it intrigued me so I clicked on the link and found that it was such a great story that I thought I'd blog about it. It was actually a "Letter to the Editor" by Alumnus Bruce Hartley titled: "So you call yourself a hockey fan at RIT? I'm calling most of you out on behalf of the women's team."
