RIT Undergraduate Grants/Scholarships
The Undergraduate Admissions Office will automatically review your admission application for merit-based scholarship programs. If eligible, awards will be listed on your RIT financial aid award letter and a separate notification letter will be sent from the Undergraduate Admissions Office.
By filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), your application will automatically be considered for all institutional need-based grant and scholarship programs. If eligible, awards will be listed on your RIT financial aid award letter.
For an overview of RIT undergraduate grants and scholarships, please refer to RIT Undergraduate Bulletin.
RIT Graduate Scholarships & Assistantships
Graduate scholarships and assistantships are awarded in most academic departments. Further information regarding the application and selection process can be found in our Graduate Students section.
Federal Programs
Federal Grants/Scholarships
By filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), your application will automatically be considered for federal grant programs. If eligible, awards will be listed on your RIT financial aid award letter.
For an overview of federal grant programs, please refer to RIT Undergraduate Bulletin.
New York State Programs
New York Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) and Scholarships are for students meeting residence, income, academic or other requirements, as established by state law. As a result of completing the FAFSA, your information will be forwarded to the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation (NYSHESC).
If you have never received a state award, or if NYSHESC needs additional information, you will be sent an Express TAP Application (ETA). Upon completion, you will be notified by NYSHESC of your award.
Although an estimate of your eligibility may be included on your RIT award letter, the states notification is your official approved award. If you need to make any corrections, follow the directions on the Change Form provided by NYSHESC.
In addition to New York State TAP, some students may be awarded additional state sponsored awards such as the Academic Excellence Scholarship or the Persian Gulf Benefit. The total of all state awards will be reflected as a TAP grant on your award letter.
For an overview of New York State Financial Aid Programs, please refer to the HESC Grants, Scholarships, and Awards Quick Reference Chart.
