Co-op

Students participating at a career fair

One of the defining characters of RIT is our career-focused approach to education. Student are required to participate in cooperative education, or co-op, in which they spend time working with a professional organization in their field so that they may gain valuable real-world experience before they graduate. Golisano College students are often recruited to work full-time at the same companies where they complete their co-ops, and through our industry partnerships you will gain incredible insight into your chosen field. RIT students don’t wait until they graduate to make their visions a reality – just ask the creators of Token, a biometric, encrypted, wearable device that offers a combination of convenience and security, via its unique two-factor authentication. Token recently received $1.75 million from New York State Innovation Venture Capital Fund following support from RIT’s Venture Creation Business Incubator. RIT students have also published game to the Xbox and PlayStation platforms—while in school—and launched companies right after graduating.
