    Scientists, farmers, and government officials around the world are grappling with a very serious question - how can we feed everyone on Earth at the current rate of population growth? Interact with students in the new interdisciplinary science course who are working to answer this question - and many others - associated with the well-being of our home planet. These students will present and demonstrate the information they are using to attempt to answer worldly questions.

  6. Greenhouse Tours

    Have you ever wondered what the greenhouse looks like or what happens there? Here is your chance! Come visit the Orchid Collection left in our care from Richard and Virginia Eisenhart. See the miniature plants growing in cultures for the Plant Biotech classes and the research going on - to purify waste water into clean water, to combat invasive species, and to clean orchard soil polluted with pesticides. In spring, the greenhouse also is used to start vegetable plants for the RIT Community Garden. Be sure to stop out at the garden this weekend!

    Watch teams of Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology students compete using human-powered mechanical equipment that they've designed and built to launch three-to-five pound pumpkins. Prizes are awarded for teams with the most spirit, teams that are the most innovative, and teams that are closest to the target.
