Events Schedule » College of Science Faculty Lectures: Use of Microalgae for Wastewater Treatment and Algal Biomass for Energy Production

Dr. Jeff Lodge will discuss how his research team is addressing two major problems in the world: generating potable water and producing alternative energy to fossil fuels. The research team usees green microalgae to treat various types of wastewater to produce clean water at a low cost and then utilize the algal biomass in either anaerobic digestion for biogas or to produce biodiesel through lipid extraction.
