Events Schedule » Imaging to Recover Historical Writings

Roger Easton

Modern imaging technologies are being applied to help scholars read writings of historical value that have been damaged or deliberately erased and overwritten to form palimpsests. Among these are the Archimedes Palimpsest, the David Livingstone African diaries, palimpsests at St. Catherine's Monastery in Sinai, and some printed maps. The systems used to collect and methods for processing the imagery will be shown.
