Welcome to the GeneSIS project website. The GeneSIS project is RIT's initiative to replace its current legacy student information system with an enterprise system that will support RIT Vision 2025 as well as meet current needs.
RIT President Destler has charged the institute with replacing its existing student information system to provide greater services, flexibility for changes, and increased capability for students, faculty, and staff. RIT’s existing student information system has been in place for over 25 years and by implementing a new state-of-the-art system, the institute has the opportunity to increase support for students’ academic success throughout the student lifecycle.
This is an opportunity for RIT to bring together partners from Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management & Career Services, and Finance & Administration to build a system that will serve the campus for decades. The new student information system will be in place by 2012 and will act as a crucial component to ensure a smooth conversion from the current quarter system to a semester-based academic calendar in 2013.
On this site you will find up-to-date information about the project’s progress, how the new SIS will impact you, previews of services provided by the new SIS, and more. If you have any questions related to the GeneSIS project, please fill out the “Ask GeneSIS” form.
