We are happy to announce that the GeneSIS project implementation officially began today!

This morning the GeneSIS project team celebrated the implementation Dr. Haeffner raises a glass to the old SIS-- "an old friend who overstayed his welcome"kickoff at a special ceremony in the University Gallery attended by our executive sponsors, as well as representatives from the deans, student government, staff council, and academic senate. Dr. Haefner, Dr. Miller, Dr. Cooper, and Dr. Watters each addressed the audience and pledged their full support and excitement for the project.

The event also served as the first formal announcement of the implementation partner for the GeneSIS project. After interviewing several outstanding consulting service candidates, we decided to partner with Oracle Consulting Services (OCS). OCS will guide us through the implementation of the new SIS to ensure the project is completed on time and within budget. The firm will guide RIT functional and technical staff to assure successful, sustainable transition and share best practices developed through years of experience working on enterprise systems projects in higher education.

In the coming weeks OCS will begin to guide us through the first stages of our fit/gap phase, where we will analyze RIT’s current business practices in detail to develop a plan on how the software can be configured to meet RIT’s needs. Last week the GeneSIS project functional leads, subject matter experts, and operations steering committee began training sessions on how to set up and use the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions software. This week we continue more focused training sessions on how to configure the software for specific departments such as financial aid and student records.

The GeneSIS project is now in full swing. Stay tuned for future announcements and future campus-wide communications forums.
