After three weeks of planning sessions during the month of September, the GeneSIS project team is preparing to begin implementation. Currently RIT is in negotiations with several candidates for the GeneSIS project’s implementation partner and hosting partner. We will send out announcements when we have reached final agreements with our partners.
In the meantime, the GeneSIS project team is identifying the functional leads and subject matter experts who will spearhead the configuration of the new SIS. Beginning on October 20, the GeneSIS project functional leads, subject matter experts, and operations steering committee will begin training sessions on how to set up and use the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions software. These training sessions for the implementation team will be facilitated by Higher Technology Solutions and will go until the end of fall quarter.
Once training sessions are complete, key functional areas such as admissions, CRM, and student records will move into the fit/gap stage of implementation. During the fit/gap phase, RIT’s functional leads will work closely with the implementation partners to conduct a detailed analysis of RIT business processes in order to create a prototype (proof of concept) of the new SIS. Any gaps identified will be analyzed, focus groups will provide input, and solution options will be determined.
Things are picking up for the GeneSIS project team. Stay tuned for future announcements and future campus-wide communications forums.
