GeneSIS Update 9/24/10

The GeneSIS project team is in the midst of pre-implementation planning sessions to articulate and define RIT’s current business processes and determine the scope, approach, and timeline of the project. These planning sessions include “walkthroughs” with key RIT personnel who have knowledge of RIT’s existing and desired business practices and processes.

Over the past two weeks we have conducted business process walkthroughs for admissions, student records, student financials, financial aid, academic advising, degree audit and graduation. We also had discovery sessions to investigate opportunities to implement CRM software, enterprise portal discussions, and reviews of conversions/interfaces/extensions that will be required during implementation.

Monday, September 27th begins the third and final week of planning sessions. Next week’s sessions will include discussions about training, change management, implementation strategy, project methodology, and staffing. We will also review integration framework, reporting infrastructure, and continue to review necessary conversions/interfaces/extensions.

These planning sessions will produce suggested plans for training and staffing, suggestions for change management approach, a high-level project plan and a timeline consistent with our desired outcome.
