Rochester Institute of Technology is recognized worldwide for our focus on career preparedness and hands-on learning. RIT’s Golisano Institute for Sustainability perpetuates the focus on career preparedness by offering classes emphasizing concept application and making the latest technologies available to students and businesses, so you can get the hands-on experience you need to hit the ground running on day one of your career.

Currently offered at GIS are a Master of Architecture, a Master's in Sustainable Systems, and a Ph.D. in Sustainability, taught by experienced faculty who have come from around the world to be a part of our Architecture or Sustainability departments.

Our Degrees

 

The ideal architecture graduate degree for those with or without prior experience in architecture. Learn about architecture with a focus on sustainable design, urban development and use of the latest technologies. The program’s core education will take place in the studio, and will also integrate construction technologies, material science, and building systems into design.

This degree will give you an understanding of basic sustainability principles and the expertise to analyze and solve complex sustainability issues. Gain technical training in energy and recycling systems, environmental assessment, economics and policy. A personalized thesis/capstone experience builds expertise in your area of interest. Tracks are available in Sustainable Manufacturing, Sustainable Mobility, and Sustainable Energy Systems.

This interdisciplinary program instills a systems-level approach to solving seemingly intractable global sustainability problems. While developing technical depth in laboratory and/or modeling specialities, you will learn to work in the broader context of environmental assessment, economics and policy. Research areas include sustainable energy, production, mobility and eco-IT.
