Technologies & Research

CSM’s core mission is to contribute to development of sustainable mobility technologies that minimize environmental impact, maximum economic value and satisfy energy security concerns. The transition from the “mono-culture of petroleum”*, to a robust and sustainable mobility infrastructure will require utilization of a diverse combination of propulsion technologies and fuels.

It is envisioned that a sustainable mobility infrastructure will involve a continuum of technologies that vary depending upon vehicle size and travel distance. CSM has research activities in 3 key technology areas: batteries, non-petroleum fuels for advanced ICEs, and fuel cells.
