Systems Performance and Reliability Lab: This lab has several types of equipment to investigate component/system performance, in particular aging and failure under various loads. A 300 hp transmission dynamometer supports testing on torsionally loaded mechanical components. Coupled with appropriate electrical system components, this system can also test motors, alternators and generators that fall within the power and speed range. The Instron tensile and fatigue tester is available for mechanical properties testing of materials and stress testing of components. The highly accelerated life tester (HALT) can be used for combined stress testing (vibration and thermal) of electro-mechanical components and devices.
