Are you interested in finding out about the zoo in you? Do you have an inner fish? Does molecular data support evolution by natural selection? Can a gene be a fossil? These are few of the questions that will be explored during this camp. Students will experience current technologies that support evolution by natural selection and gain a better understanding of the processes involved.
Molecular evidence for evolution - Fishy Family Tree Students will use protein gel electrophoresis and current bioinformatics tools to study the relationship of some marine organisms. They will create phylogenetic trees to show evolutionary relationships.
Making the new from the old Fossil, geologic and molecular evidence to construct a phylogenetic tree and learn about speciation. Students will predict current organisms from the most recent fossil found.
It's not fair! How does random mutation and environmental change relate to natural selection? Find out why the title is called "It's not fair!"
