Outside Community Member and Athlete Services

The Fitness Lab is also able to serve the general public and athletes looking to better understand certain physiological aspects pertaining to performance.

The following services are offered on a limited, case-by-case basis and we ask that all interested parties contact the Lab via e-mail prior to scheduling any of these services: fitlab@rit.edu

    Full Fitness Evaluation

    This service provides individuals with a comprehensive evaluation of their physical fitness level taking into account all five components of health related fitness: Body Composition, Muscular Strength, Muscular Endurance, Cardiorespiratory Capacity, and Flexibility.

    Resting Metabolic Rate Test

    This service provides individuals with a highly sophisticated measure of their resting metabolic rate. This test is particularly beneficial if you have weight management goals as it will provide you with information about your current metabolism and how many calories your body consumes while at rest. This information is vital to a Registered Dietician or other Nutrition Specialist in the determination of daily caloric need.

    VO2max Test (Treadmill or Cycle Based)

    This service provides athletes with an exact measurement of the volume of oxygen their body is able to utilize during maximal exercise. This measurement is of particular interest to endurance based athletes as it provides information about their current fitness level and training state.

    Wingate Anaerobic Cycling Power Test

    This service provides athletes with an exact measurement of peak anaerobic power and assesses anaerobic capacity. This measurement is of particular interest to athletes that rely on the generation of maximal power by the legs in their respective sport.
