Clinical Care

CAPS Director Laurence Sugarman moved from 20 years of primary care pediatrics into care of young people with developmental differences and chronic health concerns at the Easter Seals Diagnostic and Treatment Center nearly a decade ago. With the opening of a new Clinical Health Sciences Center at RIT, CAPS has the potential to provide clinical care onsite, potentially adding mental health counseling and diagnostic assessment services. Over the next 12 months the development of the clinical care team will be a major effort. RIT’s educational initiatives in exercise science and nutrition could potentially combine with CAPS projects in autonomic regulation and parenting to provide a wide array of benefits for young people with developmental differences in our community.
