performing arts challenge winner
First place winner Victoria Covell, a second-year NTID student

On Friday, April 27, from 6-8pm in Ingle Auditorium, ten finalists performed in an inaugural competition as part of Imagine RIT. A panel of judges used a scoring rubric with the following categories: artistry, technique, audience engagement, and stage presence.

First place went to Victoria Covell, a second-year NTID student majoring in biomedical science. Victoria performed her self-choreographed dance piece entitled, I Am, to a poem she wrote about what it is like being deaf.

Alexis Emma and Gabrielle Robinson took second and third place, respectively. Both students put forth exceptional vocal solo performances.

Other performances were given by: RIT Gaming Orchestra; Velocity Urban Dance Team; Irish Roar (RIT’s Irish Dancing Club); Sebastian Ferlo (Circus Arts); and piano solos by David Sylvester, Abigail Miller, and Jacob Stachowicz.

Winners received trophies, large stuffed tigers and bouquets of flowers.
