Imagine RIT

Educators & Mentors

Imagine RIT is a unique educational opportunity for people of all ages. Over 2,000 RIT students, faculty, and staff will be on hand to engage visitors with interactive presentations, hands-on demonstrations, and research projects. No matter what your interest, Imagine RIT has it all with showcases in art, science, engineering, business, computers, technology, sustainability, and more. There will also be games and multiple performance stages with live music and entertainment.

We encourage mentoring organizations, school superintendents, principals, teachers, guidance counselors, and other educators to schedule a school/class trip or simply encourage their students to attend! We are even putting together a few lesson plans that educators can use in their classroom to get students excited about the festival or even offer for extra credit!

RIT’s third annual Innovation and Creativity Festival: Imagine RIT is Saturday, May 1, 2010, 10am-5pm, rain or shine, and is free and open to the public.

Help us spread the word by printing this one-page poster for educators and mentors!

Educational Opportunities

Discovery Journey

This exciting activity is a creative and informative self-guided exploration of RIT’s art and architecture on campus. Visitors can begin their Journey by picking up a Passport at any of the Welcome Tents or any of the stops on the Journey. Get your Passport hole punched by a volunteer at all five locations and return your Passport to the Discovery Journey Table on the Mezzanine of the WOW! Center (Gordon Field House). The first 500 participants to return their completed passport will receive a copy of View It!, a full color guide to RIT’s publicly accessible artwork.

You can also use this page to make an itinerary for the day. Hard copies of the Print Program will be available on the day of the Festival at all of the Welcome Tents and Information Stations.

Transportation and Parking

School buses will directed by Parking Attendants to the heart of the campus where participants will be dropped off. Buses will then be directed to a designated on-campus parking lot for the day. After exiting the bus, visitors may stop by a Welcome Tent where detailed information about the day’s activities will be available. Visitors coming to campus by car will be able to park on a first come, first serve basis. Parking will also be available at Monroe Community College. Once on campus, be sure to stop by one of the five Welcome Tents - located near each of the main parking lots on campus parking lots.

Additional Information

There will be many locations across campus the day of the Festival where food and beverages may be purchased. Imagine RIT t-shirts will be sold on the second level of the Gordon Field House for $10. Visit the About the Festival page for more information about what to expect on campus the day of the event.
