Task-based Robot Design (Formerly: Can You Beat a Robot AI?)
Exhibit Code: GLE-110
Zone: Engineering Park
Location: James E. Gleason Hall (GLE/009) - Erdle Commons
Time: All Day
VOften times, robots can only perform intelligent actions when they are designed with a specific task in mind. This exhibit will demonstrate this with two of MDRC's robots. The first, AMOS III, is a robot designed for autonomous navigation and obstacle avoid in large, outdoor environments. The second, BArd, is a much smaller robot designed for exploring smaller indoor environments such as for finding and extinguishing a candle. The systems for each robot will be identified along with a description of how they help accomplish parts of the goals. We will be performing live demonstrations of autonomous navigation and mapping with our larger robot, AMOS.
