In the exhibit, "Activating the Vignelli Archive: Decoding and utilizing design process from primary source material to inspire new products," industrial design students present products and furniture designs inspired by the work of designers Massimo and Lella Vignelli. Students engaged in design research at the Vignelli Center for Design Studies and used their research to generate new designs inspired by the Vignellis. The Vignelli Center for Design Studies, located on the RIT campus, is dedicated design excellence though education, advocacy, preservation, collaboration, public good and globalism. The Vignelli Center for Design Studies is named for Massimo and Lella Vignelli, the design team behind many iconic designs such as the American Airlines branding and the New York City Subway Map, and holds their extensive professional archive.
