The Intersection of Art, Music, and Technology
Exhibit Code: SAU-118
Zone: RIT Central
Location: Student Alumni Union (SAU/004) - Lobby
Time: All Day
Description:
In the winter quarter of this academic year, CIAS and GCCIS students joined forces in the course Introduction to Music Video Production offered by the School of Photographic Arts and Sciences. The goal of the course was to provide students with a collaborative experience and provide the opportunity to explore and create interactive music videos. Unlike traditional music videos, these videos allow users to interact with the visuals while the video is playing. Working with musicians in the Rochester community, students produced a number of these interactive works. This exhibit showcases the work produced in this class and allows users to customize their experience by allowing real-time interaction with each piece. The exhibit will include an interactive live performance featuring Peter Ferry, a percussionist from the Eastman School of Music, and incorporates a dynamic visual display guided interactively by both the performance and the audience. The Polaroid inspired the theme of the piece. Images uploaded to an online image memory databank, as well as images supplied by visitors on the day of the festival, will be incorporated in the performance.
