Biomedical Engineering: Mechanical "Straw" Hand
Zone: Technology Quarter
Location: Institute Hall (INS/073) - First Floor Lobby
Time: All Day
See a mechanical hand built entirely out of fast-food straws that demonstrates how tendons work in the body! The hand is able to bend much like a normal hand and we will also be identifying different parts of the hand as an anatomy lesson for visitors of all ages. Sponsored by the Biomedical Engineering Society, a student run organization with the goal of supporting the biomedical engineering community with activities designed to communicate recent advances, discoveries, and inventions; promote education and professional development; and integrate the perspectives of the academic, medical, governmental, and business sectors.
