Motorized Camera Rig for Metropolitan Museum Art

Exhibit Code: GLE-230
Zone: Engineering Park
Location: James E. Gleason Hall (GLE/009) - Gordon Atrium
Time: 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Age Group: 12 and Up

Description:
Our system will be able to position a camera smoothly and accurately to capture a series of images of the work which will then be later tiled together to create a high resolution photo of the entire artwork. This system uses a motorized mast which is capable of extending the rig 20 feet vertically, allowing us to capture artwork from the floor all the way up to 23 feet tall. The rig will also be able to move horizontally a total distance of 25 feet by riding along a motorized rail system. This rig will have an active camera mount capable of adjusting to make sure the same picture is taken at each location. The system will also have lighting mounts which will be used by photographers to attach stationary lighting that will provide the same lighting for each small picture taken, making it seamless when all pictures are stitched together.
