New contest: Bright Ideas on Campus

Wed, 10/29/2008 - 04:37 -- Anonymous (not verified)

First off, Tuesday night's Innovation Session was jam-packed with people and presentations. Ways to find people and manage projects, with some really pretty prototypes, filled the Idea Factory. Somewhere in between the "serious stuff", a vote of 19-18 decided that the Fish Bowl is a better name than the Student Innovation Center for that round building by Crossroads. There you have it, folks, the culmination of our naming contest. Thanks to speed judging en masse, Philip Salvagio and Jarrod Parker went home with ribbons and candy for their efforts. But we had so many great entries for the name game contest, we're gonna keep the list alive. Feel free to continue to add suggestions to the comments section here Next challenge? Show us where you innovate. The method is a little quirky, but that's how we roll: 1. Find a lightbulb (or, use your innovation powers to come up with an approximation of a lightbulb) 2. Take a picture of yourself AND the lightbulb IN your innovation space--wherever you think, brainstorm, create, idea-ate, and/or collaborate best. Is it in a studio, in the library, in a lab or somewhere in the great outdoors? 3.Upload a BIG photo (~50k) to our Facebook group. But there's a deadline: next week's Student Innovation Session, on Wednesday, November 5. We hope to see you at the Idea Factory from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Look into your crystal Fish Bowl. What do you see coming next to innovation at RIT?
