Innovation Sessions - electric bicycles and urban agriculture

Thu, 12/11/2008 - 16:09 -- Anonymous (not verified)

Next session: Tuesday 16 December from 4 to 6pm in the Idea Factory

Students -- where were you? We know it's only week 2 but you gots to be working on something cool even if it's from last quarter, no? Come on out and share. Because the faculty out-shined you last night, kids. (Don't let it happen again).

As you know, we announced a theme for next years Collaborative Innovation Program: Urban Innovation. So Professor Ann Howard came over and shared her work on the urban agriculture project, GRUB - Greater Rochester Urban Bounty. Do you know about this program? It's amazing.

And Professor Clark Hochgraf came and told us about his electric bicycle program. Not only will students build bikes -- and then show us how to build them in a workshop -- but they will plan the infrastructure needed to get a bike-sharing program up and running. Now that's innovation!

There are a few ways you can participate. Sign up for one of our workshops--you can lead or follow. Or come to one of our "GET UN-STUCK" sessions in which you call on our talented and loving crowd for ideas on how to move your project forward. We've got a bunch of "get un-stuck" tricks up our sleeve. And if we don't got the skills you need, we will definitely point you in the right direction.

Lead a workshop, take a workshop, get unstuck.

How to design a killer poster
How to make money off your idea
How to take great pictures
How to get unstuck with design-thinking
How to start a green business (

We are looking for projects!
