For F-1 students, we will make you a new I-20, with the Co-op company named on page 3 (this is called "CPT").
J-1's will get a letter from our office authorizing the work (this is called "Academic Training")

So, please remember,

  1. Enroll yourself in Co-op through the Student Information System
(academic advisor can help you with this step)
  2. Record job with the Co-op office http://www.rit.edu/~964www/
  3. Finally, you must obtain USCIS employment authorization granted by RIT's International Student Services staff. Call 475-6943 to set up appointment as soon as you are done with step #1. Bring the company's offer letter or email with you.

This last step is critical; please do not forget to do it.
