Daylight-saving time changes in 2007
Daylight-saving time (DST) now starts three weeks earlier than usual, beginning on March 11, 2007. This legislated change was passed by Congress in the Energy Policy Act of 2005 on July 29, 2005, and signed into law by President Bush on August 8, 2005.
Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh computers and servers, along with other devices and software packages, require updates for the new DST rules that are U.S. law. Vendors are supplying updates, but many have appeared only recently, even though the daylight-saving time transition has been anticipated.
The actions described here are necessary for computers to understand the new date for the DST change. Please apply the appropriate instructions to your computer, whether it runs Microsoft Windows or Apple Mac OS X, as soon as possible. You can also contact the ITS HelpDesk or your local system administrator for assistance.
