myRIT Message Center
New tool for RIT communications - the myRIT Message Center
A new portlet is being launched for the myRIT Portal called the Message Center. The goal of the RIT Message Center is to create a trusted source of communication that allows you to identify what communications you want to receive AND how you want to receive them.
Key features for the RIT Message Center include:
- Message Categories - categories have been created to include mandatory and optional messages so you can get a sense of what each communication is about before reading it
- Opt-out Capabilities - while you will not be able to opt-out of mandatory communications (e.g. Institute emergencies, Institute closings, etc.), you will have the opportunity to opt-out of general notice-type information
- New Delivery Mechanisms - Are you tired of having to clean out your inbox every other day? With the RIT Message Center, you will be able to choose other delivery mechanisms, along with email, for messages you receive (e.g. myRIT Message Board portlet)
In today’s world of spam and "scam" emails it is important for RIT students, faculty and staff to be able to easily determine that the RIT communications they receive are valid. All Message Center emails you receive will originate from a single Message Center email address and standard text will appear at the end of every message identifying Message Center as the source of the message.
The first phase of the Message Center project is intended to replace the use of the ALLSTAFF mailing list along with some messages you currently receive through the RITSTAFF mailing list. Future phases of this project will expand the types of messages sent through the Message Center and add more delivery mechanisms. As you begin to use the new Message Center, please use the portal feedback feature to send us your comments. The information you provide us will be critical to plan additional features and functions for future releases. Your feedback is crucial to the success of the Message Center vision.
