Add people to Apple Address Book
The Apple Address Book is usually found in the Dock upon system startup in Mac OS X. However, if it is not located there, it can be found in the Applications folder. It's icon looks like this:

Launch Address Book by clicking on its icon in the Dock or by launching directly from the Applications Folder in the Finder. Upon launching the following screen will appear.

Notice that the window resembles the window in iTunes. Think of the Address Book as the iTunes for Contact information. All contact information can be managed in this one application.
Adding an individual contact to Apple Address Book can be done in one of two ways. The first way is to select "New Card" from the File Menu.

The second way is to use the small "Add Button" on the bottom of the "Name Column."

Either way, a new card will appear in the rightmost column of the Address Book window. This is where the information for the contact is entered. By hovering over the top of any of the grayed headings, the cursor becomes a text I-beam. By clicking any of the grayed headings, a text book appears where information can then be entered. An example entry is shown below.

(Note: To change the display order of the names from the Default Last name followed by first name, go to the Preferences in the Address Book menu and select "First name Last name" under the "General" tab.)

After all the desired information has been entered in the record, click outside of the Edit Window. This will save that information for that contact in your General Address Book. If you would like to make changes to any entry in the Address Book select the desired name from the Name list and then click the small edit button below the Edit Window.
