Set up directory searches in Apple Address Book
RIT provides an on-line directory that allows you to search for contact information related to people connected with the campus. The RIT Directory uses LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol), which is a common method for mail programs to look up e-mail addresses.
In order to setup "Apple Mail" to search RIT's LDAP directory, you are actually setting up Apple Address Book. Mail depends upon the Address Book for directory searches.
- Launch Mail by clicking it in the Dock or by launching it directly from the "Applications" folder.

- Select "Preferences" from the "Address Book" menu. The Preferences panel will appear. It is broken down into two settings sets, "General," and "LDAP."
"AddressBookDirSetup1" - Select the "LDAP" tab. The LDAP services list appears.
- Click the "Add" button in the lower right of the services list.
