Set up directory searches in Apple Address Book

RIT provides an on-line directory that allows you to search for contact information related to people connected with the campus. The RIT Directory uses LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol), which is a common method for mail programs to look up e-mail addresses.

In order to setup "Apple Mail" to search RIT's LDAP directory, you are actually setting up Apple Address Book. Mail depends upon the Address Book for directory searches.

  1. Launch Mail by clicking it in the Dock or by launching it directly from the "Applications" folder.

  4. Click the "Add" button in the lower right of the services list.
