Microsoft Entourage calendaring and time zone shifts

If you are using Microsoft Entourage v.X or 2004, you may experience changes to the display of some calendar events when you shift time zones. This may affect events sent to you as Microsoft Exchange invitations.

It is important to realize that events which move to different times in your calendar are probably fine (in the cases we have seen, no data has been lost or corrupted), but Entourage may not update its understanding of your computer's clock. Therefore, what Entourage displays doesn't match what you expect to see. The quick fix appears to be to quit and relaunch Entourage.

Any time you change time zones on your Mac OS X system with Microsoft Entourage v.X or 2004, we recommend that you:

  1. Quit Entourage.
  2. Change the time zone (not the time itself) in the Date & Time panel of the System Preferences application.
  3. Relaunch Entourage once the time zone change is completed.

Follow this procedure when you leave Rochester (Eastern time zone), and again when you return.

If this procedure does not fix time-shifted events for you, please contact us.

Note: The RIT Reignition application automatically sets the date, time, and time zone of your computer to match Rochester, New York, USA. It also enables network time synchronization to keep your clock in lockstep with time servers on the Internet.
