Directory lookups in Microsoft Entourage from off-campus

RIT Exchange accounts set up in Microsoft Entourage v.X and Entourage 2004 both require a RIT Virtual Private Network connection to use the "Check Names" procedure when creating new mail messages.

In order to use the "Check Names" feature, Entourage requires a connection to the Exchange Global Catalog via LDAP. The ports used for this access are blocked to users off-campus unless they are using VPN.

Current VPN policies may differ between faculty/staff and students. Please refer to the RIT Virtual Private Network page and the ITS Service Desk for the latest information.

Note: Instructions for Set up an Exchange account in Microsoft Entourage v.X with Exchange Update and for Set up an Exchange account in Microsoft Entourage 2004 can be found on the ITS website.
