Troubleshoot Palm HotSync problems

Try out these steps if you are having problems with Palm HotSync:

  • Check the HotSync Manager: is it enabled?
  • Unplug and replug the serial or USB cradle or cable. Try a different port.
  • Disable and re-enable the HotSync Manager connection.
  • Log out and log back in, if you are running Mac OS X.
  • Restart the computer, to reload the HotSync software.

We have found, over time, that Palm serial cradles are more reliable than USB cradles when used with Palm Desktop in Mac OS 9. If you have a serial cradle and serial ports on your Mac, we suggest using that connection rather than USB.

However, USB cradles, cables, and adapters for Palm devices seem to work quite well in Mac OS X.
