Erase a disk in Mac OS X

In Mac OS X (version 10.3 or later), you can Erase a disk with these steps:

  1. Open the Disk Utility application in Utilities in your Applications folder.
  2. Select your desired drive in the source column.
  3. Click on the Erase button in the window toolbar.
  4. Choose the name and volume format you wish to give the desired disk upon erasure.
  5. Select Erase.
