Terminal error with SSH to grace.rit.edu
With Mac OS X Panther, you may receive the following error when connecting to grace.rit.edu via SSH (Secure Shell):
" Warning: Terminal type undefined or no termcap entry. Editing disabled."
This warning can be eliminated by changing the Terminal preferences:
- Select "Preferences" from the Terminal menu.
- Select "xterm" (rather than "xterm-color") from the pop-up list next to the "Declare terminal type ($TERM) as" option.

- Close the "Terminal Preferences" window.
- Open a new Terminal window, which will inherit the new settings.
Note: This may affect your normal use of the Terminal application in Mac OS X, so you may wish to switch back to the "xterm-color" setting when you are not using SSH with grace.rit.edu.
