Technology Education

ITS offers several types of services for technology education:

Computer-based training (CBT)

Computer-based training (CBT) involves learning by interacting with computer training programs. RIT currently provides E-Learning Zone, an online learning system for faculty, staff, and students. E-Learning Zone is part of RIT's Center for Professional Development.

You can access E-Learning Zone at http://www.rit.edu/cpd/elz. A valid RIT username and password is required.

E-Learning Zone provides a large variety of online course content to meet a diverse grouping of academic and professional development needs. You can access courses by using the "Search Catalog" field or by looking through the "Course Catalog".

Topic areas include:

  • Business, Human Resources, and Soft Skills
  • Communications Technologies
  • Databases
  • Design & Media
  • Environmental, Health & Safety
  • Hardware, Networks & Operating Systems
  • Home Computing
  • IT Security
  • Office Productivity & Desktop Applications
  • Programming & Web Development
  • Project Management

In the course catalog, you can view course listings in each category, launch courses, and find information regarding accessibility and accommodations for visual text and audio tracks.

RIT also offers access to Lynda.com - an online learning platform that can be accessed by all faculty, staff, and students on campus. Login and browse for any technical or soft skills training that may assist you in your professional development.
