Technology Education

ITS offers several types of services for technology education:

Computer-based training (CBT)

Computer-based training (CBT) involves learning by interacting with computer training programs. RIT currently provides E-LearningZone. E-LearningZone is a new on-line learning system for faculty, staff, and students developed and hosted by ElementK. E-LearningZone replaces the CBT system previously available through WML, ITS, and HR/CPD.

E-LearningZone provides a variety of on-line course content to meet a diversity of academic and professional development needs. You can access courses by using the "Search Catalog" field or by looking through the "Course Catalog".

    Topic areas include:

    • Business, Human Resources, and Soft Skills
    • Communications Technologies
    • Data Bases
    • Design & Media
    • Environmental, Health & Safety
    • Hardware, Networks & Operating Systems
    • Home Computing
    • IT Security
    • Office Productivity & Desktop Applications
    • Programming & Web Development
    • Project Management

From the course catalog, you can view course listings in each category, launch courses, and find information regarding accessibility and accommodations for visual text and audio tracks.

To access this new learning system: go to: http://www.rit.edu/cbt/, a valid RIT username and password is required.

Mobile Learning Assistants

Learn at your own pace, in your own office, at your own computer! Free!

Mobile Learning Assistants (MLAs) are RIT students who are employed by ITS Customer Support and the Center for Training and Professional Development. They are selected based upon their knowledge of a suite of training topics. The purpose of the MLA program is to provide RIT faculty and staff with a convenient and effective means of sharpening their computer skills.

    How does it work?

To arrange for a visit from an MLA, contact the ITS HelpDesk at 475-HELP (4357) or 475-2810 (TTY) or send e-mail to helpdesk@rit.edu. Appointments are limited to one or two hours per session, and are available Monday through Friday during MLA scheduled hours. Please allow three business days advance notice.
