Tutoring & Mentoring

Tutoring and mentoring services are available year round. Advisers in the College of Engineering and elsewhere at RIT can help you more thoroughly understand your academic subjects, discuss high school-college transition issues, discover your own learning style, and develop study skills that will optimize your program of study at RIT. The Academic Support Center – Eastman Building (01-2309), Math Lab (01-2371), Writing Lab (01-2358), Sol Heumann Study Center (47-1016) Mondays – Thursdays 7 – 10pm

Computer Engineering Mentoring Lab – Gleason Building (09-3452) If you need Computer Engineering Mentoring contact: Rick Tolleson in 09/3411, at rateec@rit.edu or at 475-5056

The Computer Science Study Center – Golisano Building (70-3670) Student lab instructors and teaching assistants provide tutoring. Hours vary Monday-Sunday, but are always posted outside the room.

The Engineering Learning Center (ELC) – James E. Gleason Building (09/1001) The Engineering Learning Center (ELC) is staffed by electrical and mechanical engineering upper class students Monday – Thursday from 10 AM until 7 PM and on Friday from 10 AM until 4 PM. These students can help with engineering, math, and science courses.

Residence Hall Math and Physics Drop In – The schedule can be found at the bottom of the Math Lab schedule.

Individualized Tutoring

This is a federally funded program that provides tutoring, counseling, academic and personal support. To avail yourself of these services, you must meet the qualifying criteria in one of the following areas: disabilities, first-generation college student, returning adult student, or income guidelines. Contact: Counselor David Watson (dlwspr@rit.edu), 475-2832, 2388 Eastman or Director Bernadette Lynch (bdlldc@rit.edu). If you don't qualify, they will try to direct you to other services.
