Six Sigma Black Belt Project Sponsors Needed!

The RIT Center for Quality & Applied Statistics provides a Black Belt Six Sigma curriculum option for RIT students to obtain Black Belt Certification. We currently
have several students in need of a Black Belt project to qualify for certification.
There is no cost to the corporate sponsor. If your organization has a potential
Black Belt level project opportunity and you are interested in learning more about
our project sponsor requirements, please contact Greg Evershed at
(585) 475-5442 or greg.evershed@rit.edu.

RIT Multidisciplinary Senior Design - Process Innovation Track
Teams of RIT engineering students spend 2 quarters (22 weeks) working on
projects sponsored by manufacturing companies. These projects involve design
and implementation of solutions for process improvement or cost reduction and increased productivity. These projects will generally be of interest to students in Industrial & Systems Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Projects involve computer integrated manufacturing and robotic systems, lean manufacturing and associated processes, machining, tooling, and fabrication technologies.
For further information on the Senior Design program, please contact
Greg Evershed at (585) 475-5442 or greg.evershed@rit.edu.

Lean Six Sigma Training Program

The RIT CQAS Lean Six Sigma training program provides extensive instruction on the building blocks of quality management through a comprehensive training program that includes the following modules:

  • Management Overview & Deployment Training
  • Lean Six Sigma Assessment
  • Green Belt Training
  • Black Belt Training
  • Kaizen Event Training

The 3-4 month Lean Six Sigma program is led by expert instructors and involves participants in an extensive interactive quality training environment. Participants are exposed to each topic through in-depth classroom assignments and structured shop floor exercises within team environments. Each team performs a Kaizen event in an area selected by the executive management team.

Program Benefits to Corporations – Better Quality, Reduced Waste & Improved Performance

The main benefits of implementing the RIT CQAS Lean Six Sigma training program include the elimination of waste, profit improvement, profit development cycle reduction and overall process improvement. The program’s core objectives include:

  • Reduction of new product development time
  • Reduction of product delivery time
  • Reduction of waste and costs
  • Reduction of work-in-process inventory
  • Reduction of product variability
  • Increase profits
  • Increase customer satisfaction, retention and loyalty

The direct outcome of this training program is the development of a process improvement methodology that increases your company’s responsiveness and maximizes the entire value delivery system. Through aggressive identification and elimination of non-value added activities (waste), optimum value flow is achieved. Detailed analysis of product travel distances, set-up times, equipment downtime, scrap, rework and other non-productive items is conducted to identify key areas for improvement and waste elimination. The Lean Six Sigma process focuses on delivering value from a customer’s prospective through the entire supply chain.

The RIT CQAS Lean Six Sigma program provides access to a proven, statistically based problem solving process that generates superior data driven solutions, productive yields and dramatically improved bottom-line results.
