This is awarded to principal investigators on funded research projects who have secured research support of at least $1 million.
“We do this because a million dollars represents a significant validation of expertise and commitment. You don’t achieve this level of success as an investigator by dabbling at something or by merely getting lucky,” RIT President Bill Destler. “You achieve this through leading in some area of discovery, research or service over time. This typically includes a lot of hard work beyond teaching, publishing and other academic commitments.”
Vincenzo Buonomo is a senior program manager at Rochester Institute of Technology’s Center for Quality and Applied Statistics. He is responsible for helping companies to understand and apply Lean and Lean Six Sigma implementation techniques through senior management deployment sessions, training workshops, focused improvement events (kaizen), and lean six sigma projects.
He has over 15 years of training and consulting experience, including international assignments. He has worked with over 100 organizations from a variety of industries including manufacturing, healthcare, service, education, and government. As a skilled team facilitator and educator, he has assisted organizations to implement, achieve and sustain continuous improvement results. He has also guided organizations on quality system management, facility planning, and ergonomics.
Mr. Buonomo holds a ME degree in manufacturing engineering and a BS degree in industrial engineering from RIT. He is an ASQ certified quality engineer and a member of the American Society of Quality.
