Faculty
The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) makes the following observation about faculty: "The heart of any educational program is the faculty. All other matters are secondary to a competent, qualified, and forward-looking faculty that can give an overall scholarly atmosphere to operation and provide an appropriate role model for engineering students."
ABET judges the overall competence of the faculty using such factors as the level of academic training of its members, the diversity of their backgrounds, their non-academic engineering experience, and their experience in teaching. They also consider the professors' ability to communicate, their interest in and enthusiasm for developing effective teaching methods, their level of scholarship as shown by their scientific and professional publications, their degree of participation in professional societies, and their personal interest in the students' activities. When measured by these standards, the faculty of RIT's Electrical Engineering department can be deemed exemplary.
