Respiratory Technologies Laboratory

Risa Robinson
Department Head, Professor

The Respiratory Technologies Lab is an emissions test facility that conducts research related to tobacco and nicotine delivery devices. This is a wet-lab facility with ventilation.  The lab conducts IRB approved observational studies relating to vaping behavior and puffing topography.  The lab contains programmable emissions testing units for electronic cigarettes and conventional combustible cigarettes, and can generate and capture particles and gas emissions from mainstream and second hand sources.

Major equipment: Micro-balance, ventilation hood, wet lab facilities, PH testing, mechanical programmable puff generators, and personal use monitors for topography measurements.  The lab computers utilize LabVIEW, SolidWorks and ANSYS along with standard computing capabilities.

Recognitions: American Cancer Society, National Institutes of Health, Food and Drug Administration, Henry Jackson Foundation, National Science Foundation.
